About us

    Independent research on Eurasia.

The Center for Strategic Studies of Eurasia is an independent research institution, founded in 2022. We analyse security, energy and connectivity across the region and publish what we find.

Our method is open-source. Everything we publish is built from material a reader can obtain for themselves, and every figure is traceable to a named public source.

    Central Asia, the Caucasus, Europe.

The region is the whole of our remit, not one desk among many. The work is organised into research programs, each following a single question over time.

We publish in five languages, so that the people a piece of research concerns can read it.

    Security, energy, connectivity.

Our work concentrates on what changes slowly and matters for a long time: how the region is defended, how its energy moves, and how its infrastructure ties it to its neighbours.

We write for people who have to decide under uncertainty — governments, international organisations, investors and civil society.

How the work is held to account.

Every publication passes analyst verification and source checks before it appears. Research programs are peer-reviewed and their methods audited. Our governance and funding standards are published alongside the work.

We are non-partisan and hold no advocacy position: we examine implications and constraints rather than prescribe outcomes. Where the evidence runs out we say so, and we name the point at which an assessment becomes contingent.

    Funding & partners

Who pays for the research is part of the research. The centre publishes its funding sources and states, on every commissioned piece, who commissioned it.

No funder sees a finding before it is published, and no funding agreement gives anyone the right to alter or withhold one. Work that could not be published on those terms is not accepted.

The funder and partner list for the current year is being prepared for publication here.

    Who decides what we publish.
